can i have an aquarium tank without an air pump?
I have about six fish in a 5 gallon tank with lots of aquatic plants… will my fish survive without an air pump?if so what kind of fish can i keep?
You sure can. As long as you havea filter that breaks the surface of the water it will introduce oxygen into the tank for your fish, plus the plants will help – how much depending on what kinds of plants you have.
For a 5 gallon just stick to a few small fish like smaller tetras (neon, glowlight, etc.), corydora catish, ghost shrimp, oto cats, dwarf frogs. Instead of the school of tiny fish you can also go with one non-schooler fish like a betta or a dwarf gourami.
If you have six fish already you’re probably approaching your limit, so make sure the fish you have are suitable and try not to add much more – an overstocked tank is harder to keep clean and healthy then an understocked one.
How does a gas pump detect when to stop flowing fuel into your tank?

I think it is ok as long as there are plants as it will provide oxygen.

Six fish in a 5 gallon tank is little room for them to swim. Most fish require each of them to have a little over 1 gallon for them to be healthy and comfortable. A problem with having six fish in a 5 gallon tank is that you are going to have to change the water frequently. The aquatic plants will definitly not survive without an air pump. A filter is a really great thing to have and they are not expensive, usually under $10 for a 5 gallon tank. The air pump is essential especially when you have live plants. If you cannot get an air pump or a filter, then I would recommend not having more than 4 fish in the five gallon tank. You could get some female bettas (if they get aggressive towards each other you will have to seperate them), and a snail (algee eater) which do not require air pumps or filters. Good luck!

depends on the specie of fish.i have guppies and i don’t keep the air pump only when i put in the heater to stir the water to be warm in all parts of the tank.the warmer the water the less oxygen they have.the plants are a good thing because they give not just oxygen to your fish but places where they can hide. i suggest you should buy guppies because they accommodate very fast

No they will die from lack of air and no room to swim

You have WAY too many fish for that tiny tank. You need a bigger tank, and an air pump. What kidn of fish do you have? The limit is three tiny fish for tht tiny tank, or just one betta. If you have goldfish, you need to get them to a tank that allows for 10 gallons per fish asap.
