I have well water with a submersible pump sometimes when your taking a shower and somebody may flush the?

toilet start a load of clothes the pump will kick off. You can go to the pump house and move a stem sticking out of were the power hooks up and it will kick back on…please help!!!

the stem you are referring to is on the pump pressure sensor. you need to replace that unit.

How can I tell if my submersible water pump is burned out without much expense?

    Try cleaning out the pump

Your well pump may be drawing more start-up amperage than your breaker rating. You might also have a pump that is starting to fail because of dirt getting into the bearing housing or electrical winding issues. I have no idea why it would happen only under the conditions you describe unless the repeated pump cycling is generating excessive heat causing binding. My best guess is that this is a premonition of total pump failure. Make sure that your pump is deep enough in the well to always be covered by water because there is nothing harder on a pump to draw air and be out of the water.

The stem you are referring to is a low pressure cut off. It protects the pump when it drops below 20psi. Sounds like you have a waterlogged pressure tank. The tank should have 2 thirds water and 1 third air. If it’s not the bladder type drain it down and put 30psi air in it then turn on pump and let fill with water. If it’s the bladder type then replace it because it has a hole in the bladder.
