I am looking for a water pump to move water in a small pond. Can I use a bilge pump?
I don’t leave it on all the time. The submersible pump I need is 40 to 79 dollars. Bilge pumps are cheap.
Thanks.
I use a bilge pump to move water for my silk screening equipment. It is good for moving the water up a few feet of hose. Just don’t expect to attach a spray head to it. It just won’t have enough pressure.
Depending on how much you use it, it may not last forever, but at the price your not risking anything.
And speaking of risk, since it is 12 volt there is no risk of a shock.
Go for it.

You may want to find a pump designed for continuous duty. Not all pumps are designed for this purpose.
