They are a great choice for mechanical filtration and tanks that are under 55 gallons. these filters usually hang on outside of the tank and have it to him that runs down into the water and a pump that sucks the water up into the unit filtering it through some kind of a cartridge. Most of them also have either a carbon cartridge to provide chemical filtration, or some kind of a by a wheel or sponge that provides biological filtration. Canister filters are recommended for tanks over 55 gallons and tanks that are going to be saltwater or marine aquariums. These units can be hidden underneath in the aquarium stand so are a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the power filters. They have tubes that run into them and the water is pushed from the tank through the tubes into the filtering material and then back into the tank once it is filtered.

Since I’ve lived here, the first guy had to bust in the tank cuz he couldn’t find the cap. The second guy got into the outlet cap that leads to the drain field. The last person located the inlet cap and told me that this is where you want to pump if you want it done right. So I’m curious if it makes a difference.

basically a septic tank has four openings, one on each end and two on the top. the tank itself is divided in to two compartments

the two openings on the ends are the inlet and outlet. the two openings on the top are for pumping out the two compartments

in a tank functioning properly most if not all of the solid waste should be in the first compartment

in my opinion if you are paying to have it pumped you might as well get both compartments pumped

We are purchasing a foreclosed home which has a septic tank in the backyard. We are wondering WHEN do we pump, service, and acquire the needed 1 year service contract from a septic company? Before the inspection period ends (7 days) or before closing?
We’re looking more into getting the system just inspected first to check its working condition, and then after the house passes the overall inspection (with satisfactory results), we’ll get the system pumped and under contract before we officially move it. Sound about right?

I would go ahead and pump it out before you move in and then depending on how big your family is then at least every three years again depending on the size of your tank. Some counties do require every year to be pumped, ours here is every three years if it is at least a 1000 gallon tank.
Better safe then sorry have it pumped and checked to be safe.

I have a 10 gallon Fish tank with an underground filtration system and a water filter. What size air pump do I need? I have an air rock but I don’t see any bubbles coming out of the tubes – does that mean I need a bigger pump? Help I’ve never had fish before!

I dont usually put too much gas in but decided to fill it, when I did gas came pouring out from around or near the new fuel pump, I smelled gas before from the rear dr side of the vehicle, it has had a full tank of gas in ages, when we filled it, it poured out. What could be the cause?

Could be the hose as mentioned, but it would also be the O-ring may not have been installed on the pump, so when the tank is pull it is forcing its way around the pump and flowing over the top of the tank.
