I just replaced an old jet pump with a submersible. My question is, how long before the water starts clearing up? It’s closing in on 18 hours, and I know it could take awhile. Is there any clarifying agent that could be added to the well?
Thanks.
Just replacing a worn jet pump and pipe. Submersible is 10+ feet off bottom of 80ft well with 50 ft of water.
Was the well "fract" to increase water, or just a new pump?
Is the pump at the same level? 20-25 feet off the bottom?
If you are bringing up dirty water, it will clear gradually with time. A whole house filter will keep the water from staining your fixtures, laundry and drinking water.

I have about six fish in a 5 gallon tank with lots of aquatic plants… will my fish survive without an air pump?if so what kind of fish can i keep?
You sure can. As long as you havea filter that breaks the surface of the water it will introduce oxygen into the tank for your fish, plus the plants will help - how much depending on what kinds of plants you have.
For a 5 gallon just stick to a few small fish like smaller tetras (neon, glowlight, etc.), corydora catish, ghost shrimp, oto cats, dwarf frogs. Instead of the school of tiny fish you can also go with one non-schooler fish like a betta or a dwarf gourami.
If you have six fish already you’re probably approaching your limit, so make sure the fish you have are suitable and try not to add much more - an overstocked tank is harder to keep clean and healthy then an understocked one.

Well is 118 Ft. deep with a 1/2 H.P. submersible pump , that draws water to a trough to water cattle. Some suggest to shock the well with acid & or chlorine. Need some suggestions. Thanks Jim
I have had the same problem for our animals here on the farm. We changed to a new submersible pump with a plastic hose connected to the top of the pump. We lowered it down so it sets 1/2 way between the top of the water level and the bottom. We attached the other end of the plastic hose to a water bladder and put 40lbs. of pressure on it. Then we ran a short pies of pvc pipe to an outside facet. Our water here has so much iron in it, it stinks. This should help with some of the problem.we do shock the well one a month with pool chlorine to remove build up in the tank and the piping. We pour 1 cup in the well, run the water till we smell it and let it set for 24 hrs. the next day we run the water till we don’t smell it any longer and we are done. this just cleans out the pipes and keeps the iron build up to a minimum.

I filled up my fish tank and a little water got on my air pump and now it is running but now air is coming out what can i do to make it work?
Ok Here is a real answer with no teasing.. You got enough of that already! OK. Unplug the airpump. un hook the airline and put the end that was attached to the airpump above the tank.( I suggest opening the tank lid putting about three inches inside and close the lid on the hose to make sure it doesn’t go anywhere or drain the tank) Now go sit down with the air pump close to an outlet. Where the airline was, is it wet? hold the pump with the connectors facing down and see if it is draining any water. If it is, try to drain it off with a towel or something. Do not plug it in. If you have a bleeder or anti-siphon valve on your hose, check to make sure it was made correctly ( blowing into it should have some resistance but not much.) and make sure it was on the right way. If that looks ok, go back to the air pump and lets take another look at it. Any more water or moisture on it ? If not, plug it in and see if air is coming out. sometimes putting a small piece of tubing on it can help you feel the breeze. This part sounds really weird but is the best way of seeing if any airflow no matter how small the breeze. Lick your lips and hold the airpump outlet near ..not on or in but near. If nothing is happening, hang it with the connector side down overnight and try again tomorrow. It may have filled the diaphragm up with water and needs to drain out. Hope this helps

It is above ground and attached to the pump.
I meant to say PRESSURE SWITCH
My ex did it.
And he was an idiot. So it must be pretty easy…

I suspect the pump is allowing water into an electrical area of the pump causing the GFCI unit to cut the power. Can someone tell me what i can do to fix my pump to stop this…for example, can i use some kind of sealant on certain areas of the pump that MIGHT be able to seal it from water or is there nothing i can do?
I would suspect first the electrical cord that enters the casting as having in that area developed some sort of a low resistance in the insulation.
And secondly, i would suspect that switching mechanism in the pump, ie the microswitch that is activated by the float to have gone bad.
And thirdly, that rubber seal on the float mechanism might have developed a leak and needs a new seal there.
These components are easily repaired by removal of the top casting on the pump and an examination of the switch and cord.
I recently replaced a microswitch in a Zoller pump for about $15 and a seal on the float mechanism for about $3.
The cord at the entry can be cut off if it appears bad and reinserted thru that knob seal again with an application of a bit of RTV rubber to that seal gromet.
I would not suspect that water has entered the pump. These things are oil filled and pretty well balanced pressure wise so water under pressure would have to displace the oil so most of the time on these pumps its the microswitch area to look at and repair.

I have a Hunter 30 and am having issues pumping the holding tank overboard. Any ideas? The seacock is open and the Y valve is turned to the appropriate direction. (I Think)
Do you hear the sound of the pump starting up? If not, it may be trouble with a breaker. It could be turned off on your electrical panel. I know this may sound like a silly question, but are you sure the tank is not already empty? My husband once went aboard someone’s boat to help with just such an issue and it turned out that the tank really was empty but they didn’t realize it. You must be at a location where there are other boaters or cruisers? I would ask for help from one of them, especially the cruisers. Many of them know how to deal with all kinds of issues like this that come up as a regular part of daily life aboard. Best of luck with it.

I already have the monitor and the cuff, all work fine but due to the many years of owning this machine, the pump ball has hardened and basically is out of use. Is there anywhere to purchase JUST the pump (ball)?
Thanks!
Yeah, lots of places.
Search for replacement parts for blood pressure cuffs. That pump is actually called a bulb… so that might help.
Good luck.

We are considering adding a garden to our backyard, and we understand we need a pump. The place where we want the pond is too far away from the house to be grid powered. We considered solar and wind powered pumps, but we don’t have enough sun or wind. I was wondering if there is a working perpetual machine, such as a perpetual water wheel. If so, can u send me a picture/video. THANKS!!!
Sorry, no such thing exists. You could always put in a gas powered generator but in the end you might just be better off finding a way to run AC power out to the area where the pond is to be located.
