water pump not working?

Hi, I bought a small 6-12 volt water pump for fountains etc, and when I go to hook it up to power, it doesnt seem to be working…

When i first turn the power on, the pump makes one small clicking noise then it does nothing…

Anyone know if I’m doing anything wrong?

Check its input requirements:
* ac or dc?
* voltage
* current
* startup current or VA

Probably there isn’t sufficient current to start the motor. Another possibility is that the pump impeller needs lubrication.

where can i buy a electric water pump that will run on a 12 volt battery, need to be very very quiet,and cheap?

    Are you actually trying to pump some fluid or have you just plugged it in to the power and turned it on to find out if you can hear anything? Dry running pumps is very bad for them. In fact it could be tripping off if it is not pumping some fluid.

    Otherwise take it it back to the shop you bought it from as there could be a hundred things wrong with it and they all should be covered by warranty.
