220 volts AC to 12 volts DC 10 amp?
I'm running a 12 volt DC pump on my greywater recycling system, but I want to use house current instead of the battery. Q: Is there such thing as a 220 volt AC to 12 volt 10 AMP DC transformer? Do you know of a source? I'm finding stepdown transformers to 12 volts DC, but these are mainly low amperage for telephones, etc not water pumps. Thanks!
What your looking for is a dc power supply not a transformer. They can be ordered at your local electrical supply house or from websites like this.

But if you stay with the battery and charger at least you have a backup when power goes out.
Will the water pumps on a late '49-'53 Mercury Flat Head Engine tolerate the tight Tension?
Why don't you just keep a trickle charger going and use a battery?

You'd need both a transformer and a rectifier bridge, plus
a 'smoothing capacitor' to do it.
The proper size transformer could be a purchased as
a control or low voltage lighting transformer.(0.15 KW. Min.)
The high capacity rectifier bridge at 12V. 150W. might be harder to find.
